Crafted by Earth and Flame - Kanya Yamamoto
The clay is sorted from the soil, then crushed, water and aged enough before being used. The glaze is made by grinding the ashes of straw, fir and various trees into the powders, refine them and mix with stones. To use a potter's wheel, take a time and effort while kicking it, be relaxed.
During firing, at least for 5 days with peace, it needs to raise its temperature to 1300 degrees Celsius and aggressively burn the clay using the climbing kiln.
Using firewood as fuel is time-consuming and cumbersome and using the climbing kiln is low-yield. But with all that time and effort, the clay gets firm and cools down slowly, resulting in a more detailed penetration of clay.
A vessel shows a unique expression of power and vigour and the natural distortion gives a deep colour to its surface.
